Objects should be repatriated considering western domination influenced indigenous cultures to adopt western values such as possessive individualism to promote nationalism. Even though nationalism is a recent phenomena in the non-western world, it is no excuse to refuse repatriation demands since the west should pay the consequences of imposing a "logic and language of [collecting culture] upon the world" by returning objects to their populations (Handler 71).
